The Ministry of Home Affairs has made it clear that there is currently no plan to bring them the National Citizen Register. This is the first time such an official statement has been made in the Parliament by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Significantly, protests are being organized against the revised citizenship law in different parts of the country. Many parties have come out completely against this law. The government of many states has refused to implement it in their state.

It is worth noting that earlier in the Winter Session of Parliament, Home Minister Amit Shah had spoken in the Rajya Sabha to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) across the country to identify illegal people. He had said that people of all religions and sects would be included in the NRC.
