JAIPUR: A 10-year-old girl, who had accompanied her parents to a marriage engagement ceremony in Jaipur, was raped by a 36-year-old man late on Sunday night.
Police, however, managed to arrest the accused, who was a caterer for serving snacks at the function, within 24 hours.
The accused, identified as Raju from Bhind in Madhya Pradesh, raped the girl in one of the toilets at the marriage garden, and left her in an unconscious state with severe injuries to her private parts.

Police said the accused, in an attempt to overpower her, might have grabbed her by the neck as there were marks on her neck and head.
In the complaint, the father of the girl said they searched the entire venue as soon as they learnt she was missing. Her uncle found her lying in an unconscious state in a toilet, bleeding profusely from her private parts.
The girl was rushed to a hospital where the doctors performed a 2 hour-long surgery on her. “She was brought to the hospital at around 1am. She had severe injuries on her private parts. Our surgical team performed a surgery and reconstructed the damaged part,” said Dr Ashok Gupta, medical superintendent, JK Lon Hospital. The condition of the girl is stable and she is kept in postsurgical ICU, the doctor said.
The girl’s father had lodged the complaint, saying that an unidentified person had raped her daughter. A team of 50 policemen was constituted by DCP (West) Kavendra Singh Sagar to inspect the spot of crime and to question the guests and service providers such ass caterers, photographers, etc.
After going through CCTV footage and drone camera recordings for 10-15 hours, the police found the accused, who was one of those serving food at the venue. Police have arrested the accused, who is a resident of Bhind in Madhya Pradesh.
