Official: Delete names of voters featuring in two places

UDUPI: Udupi district voter’s list observer Munish Moudgil on Tuesday directed the Udupi district administration to delete names of voters that feature in two places, from the place where the voter is not an ordinary resident.
It is possible for the Election Commission to ascertain such cases using a software, which cross references the photographs of voters in voters’ lists.
This list is then given to booth level officers for physical verification, Moudgil said. During verification, names of voters will be removed from the place where they are not residing anymore, Moudgil, commissioner, survey, settlement and land records and ex-officio director Bhoomi and UPOR, said. “The district administration should take into consideration objections of political parties and work towards preparing a voters list that is free from errors and duplication, to ensure successful conduct of polls,” he said.
While undertaking the task of revision of voters list, directions given by the Election Commission on ensuring population to voters’ ratio for every assembly or parliamentary constituency should be followed. It there are variations, officials should undertake field visits to reverify the same, he said.
