JAIPUR: For better monitoring of
garbage transport stations, landfill sites, slaughter houses and Hingonia Gaushala, Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has started CCTV camera surveillance.
The civic body has installed more than 20 cameras in various parts of the city to keep an eye on ongoing work at various places. There have been many complaints in the past regarding the firm responsible for door-to-door garbage collection which picked up trash from road sides instead of going to every house.
Executive engineer (projects) at JMC
Banne Singh said through the cameras, we will be able to see whether they are actually bringing garbage from home or from the road side. “If there is lot of mud, concrete material and stones, that means it is not collected from houses. We can even count the number of garbage trucks coming every day. This way the firm will not be able to cheat,” said Singh.
From the control room at JMC headquarters in
Lal Kothi, officer
Praveen Gothal pointing at the cameras showed the work at
Sewapura landfill sites when the garbage trucks were coming in and out.
“These trucks are weighed on which the billing of the firm will be cleared. We have even installed a 360-degree camera at the Sewapura and Mathuradaspura landfill sites to keep a watch from all the angles. These have increased our visibility and the chances of being conned by the firms have gone down,” said Gothal.
At present, four cameras at Dawabkhana, five cameras at
Jai Singhpura Khor, four at
Jhalana and three at
Lal Doongri garbage transfer stations have been installed. There are around 13 other garbage transfer stations in the city that are still remaining to be included in the CCTV monitoring.
Three cameras have been installed at the slaughter house on
Jamwa Ramgarh Road as well to look whether people are coming to get the slip of slaughter every day.
