Sensex rallies over 400 pts, Nifty above 11,800; RIL, HDFC lead gains

Domestic equity indices saw a gap-up opening on Tuesday after crude oil fell to 13-month lows a day prior as the coronavirus outbreak curtailed Chinese demand. BSE flagship Sensex was up 440 points to 40,313, while NSE benchmark Nifty gained 123 points to 11,834. Broader market indices were in line with their headline peers as Nifty Smallcap added 1.09 per cent to 6,105 while Nifty Midcap advanced 1.09 per cent to 17,835. Nifty 500 was up 0.92 per cent to 9,739.
