One of the best parts of traveling is experiencing the tastes, textures, and vibrant colors of other cuisines. In a recent study, Celebrity Cruises compiled data from Yummly to determine the links and differences of foods from 30 different regions.  

One of the most distinctive features of a country is its cuisine. Regional flavors and local ingredients, nutritional value, and the complexity of recipes and preparation are the building blocks that make these global cuisines what they are. And while many cultures have unique customs when it comes to food and even how they eat, regions around the world do share some food-related denominators such as ingredients, preparation, nutrients, tastes, textures, and color.

Some unique findings: 

• Known for their spice and rich flavors, Indian recipes are comparable to Turkish and Moroccan food
• Travel plans? There was relatively little variation between English, Irish, French, Swedish and German cuisines
• Know your global flavors: Korean cooking is rich in sesame oil, garlic, soy sauce, sesame seeds, salt, ginger, black pepper, kimchi, water, and sugar.
