A man is in custody after a woman was stabbed to death in Melbourne's south-east.
Emergency services were called to Whitby Way in Seaford just before 5pm on Tuesday and found the woman with horrific injuries.
The victim, aged in her 40s, died at the scene despite desperate efforts from paramedics to revive her.
Police arrested a man, 44, at the scene and is currently in custody.

Police believe the man and deceased woman are known to each other.
No charges have been laid as of early Wednesday morning.
Homicide Squad detectives and forensic officers are investigating and remained at the scene on Tuesday night, where they received assistance from SES crews.
Both ends of the street in the seaside suburb remain blocked by police.
A sheet was draped over the driveway of a home in the street, the Herald Sun reported.
