MYSURU: Mysuru and Chamarajanagar, which border
Kerala where two positive cases of
coronavirus have been reported, are on high alert. To keep a tab on people coming from Kerala, the authorities in Chamarajanagar have set up a five-member medical team at two checkposts at
Gundlupet. The health authorities in Mysuru are also on alert in H D Kote which borders Kerala.
As a precautionary measure, the authorities have instructed the health department to keep a five-bed ward reserved in each taluk hospital to treat coronavirus patients. Apart from this, they have also increased their surveillance and awareness campaigns at prominent tourist spots.
Dr MC Ravi, district health officer, Chamarajanagar, said: “Till date, we have not come across any suspected cases of patients with coronavirus. As a precautionary measure, and to keep a tab on people coming from Kerala, where three positive cases of coronavirus have been reported, we have formed two medical teams comprising five members each. The medical teams will be present at Gundlupet, Mulehole and Bandipur checkposts. They will keep a tab on tourists and people who come from Kerala. If they su spect any tourist, they will conduct a screening. We have reserved a five-bedded ward at Gundulpet general hospital and at district hospital.
“In Gundlupet taluk, there is a factory which belongs to Chinese people. We have instructed them to give details if anybody visits China. It is said that two from China was supposed to visit the factory but due to coronavirus, they have postponed their visit to Gundlupet,” said Dr Ravi.
No suspect case in Mysuru Dr Shivaprasad, surveillance officer, Mysuru district said: “There is no suspected case of coronavirus in Mysuru. We have taken all preventive steps including distribution of pamphlets at zoo, Jagan Mohan palace and at airport.”
