Live AK-47 cartridges found in Azad Hind Express

Pune: Seven live rounds of AK 47 rifle, used by armed forces and police, were found in a dustbin of a coach of Azad Hind Express when the train was being cleaned. The train had reached Pune from Howrah on Tuesday morning. 

According to officials, the train reached Ghorpadi railway yard washing centre around 9.35 am.

Housekeeping staff found seven rounds (live cartridges), four bullets, and one empty case in a plastic carry bag in the dustbin of a toilet of sleeper coach-2 of the train no. 12130. The staff found it at 2 pm and informed his supervisor who alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Later, Government Railway Police (GRP), Army and other security agencies reached the washing centre and inspected the cartridges. 

Police Inspector Sureshsingh Goud, in-charge of Pune railway station, GRP, said, “We are registering an FIR in this regard. Further investigation is going on.”
