Infant dies after falling into water bucket

Surat: An 18-month-old girl died of drowning after falling into a water bucket kept outside her house in Pandesara area of the city on Sunday evening.
Saumya Mishra was playing when she lost balance and fell into the bucket full of water kept nearby. She gulped down lots of water and died of drowning. Saumya’s father is driver in a travel firm and is a native from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. The girl was rushed to a private hospital and from there to New Civil Hospital where she died during treatment. Postmortem on her body confirmed her death due to drowning, police said.
Police have registered a case of accidental death and begun investigation.
