VARANASI : An Afghan national was arrested from passport office in Varanasi’s Mahmoorganj while he was trying to procure an Indian passport on the basis of fake Aadhaar and voter identity cards.
The man who provided him
fake documents was also arrested from Azamgarh.
SP, city, Dinesh Kumar Singh said the accused – Abid Abdullah (25) from Afghanistan and Sahbe Alam of Chamradih village in Azamgarh – have been booked under sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 of IPC and section 14 the Foreigners Act.
Singh said Abid was arrested on January 31 after passport office employees found his behaviour suspicious and alerted cops.
Abid said he wanted to go to Kuwati but as Afghan nationals are not allowed there, he decided to go there on an Indian passport.
He befriended Alam on Facebook and reached India on January
11.
After staying in Delhi for a few days, Abid visited Azamgarh to meet Alam.
