A comforting sign that baseball and spring are on the way, the Red Sox equipment truck made a stop at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket Monday afternoon as it headed for JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida.


It's the last time the truck will stop here on the way to Florida, since the Pawtucket Red Sox are moving to Worcester.

A comforting sign that baseball and spring are on the way, the Red Sox equipment truck made a stop at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket Monday afternoon as it headed for JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida.

It's the last time the truck will stop here on the way to Florida, since the Pawtucket Red Sox are moving to Worcester.

The truck left Fenway Park earlier in the day. Behind the wheel of the 53-foot truck and making the 1,480-mile trip for the 24th straight year is a Milford, Massachusetts, native, Al Hartz.

According to the Red Sox, the baseball equipment includes the following:

• 20,400 baseballs

• 1,100 bats

• 200 batting gloves

• 200 batting helmets

• 320 Batting Practice tops

• 160 white game jerseys

• 300 pairs of pants

• 400 t-shirts

• 400 pairs of socks

• 20 cases of bubble gum

• 60 cases of sunflower seeds

The team's pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report on February 11. The first full-squad workout is set for Feb. 17.
