BHUBANESWAR: Wildlife enthusiasts can now book vehicles for safaris in Debrigarh and Chandaka sanctuaries online, instead of on the spot.
The online facility will help the authorities know how many visitors to expect on a given day. It will also ensure that tourists do not have to return disappointed in case vehicles are unavailable. Forest officials said the online booking system would also attract international tourists as they mostly planned their itinerary in advance and depended on online bookings.
Debrigarh is known for good sighting of animals such as bison, deer, sambar and leopard. The route between Dhodrokusum and Chourasimal has been identified as bison route, while that between Dhodrokusum and Damkighati is known for boar, spotted deer and sambar. Leopards are seen on the route from Lakhanpur to Badduma.
Chandaka has four routes or entry points where tourists can embark on a safari. They are Bharatpur, Godibari, Deras and Dampara.
