SURAT: A police inspector and a police sub-inspector were suspended by director general of police Shivanand Jha soon after a raid by state monitoring cell (SMC) on a liquor den operating under the limits of Adajan police station here on Saturday.
It was found during the raid by SMC, which functions under direct supervision of DGP office, that the liquor den has been operating for the past many months without any action by the police station. Police inspector S M Chaudhary and police sub-inspector R K Kabariya were suspended soon after the raid for
negligence. Kabariya was in-charge of detection staff of police station.
SMC raided the liquor den on Palanpur Canal Road and seized liquor worth Rs1.73 lakh. Rajesh Rathod and Rushabh Shahni were arrested from the spot. Police seized 942 bottles of IMFL during the raid.
