KURUKSHETRA:
Haryana sports and youth affairs minister
Sandeep Singh made a big announcement for the safety of women players here on Monday.
According to the decision of the
Haryana sports ministry, now the coaches of all the women's teams of the state will be women and the ministry will be a little wary of appointing men as coaches of the women's team. Along with the coach, the manager of the women's team will also be a woman.
Sandeep Singh said, “This decision has been taken keeping in view the safety and feelings of women players. The women players will feel more secure with women coaches and managers and their families will also have less anxiety if they go out.”
Sandeep told, “If for some reason the male coach or manager is sent out somewhere with the women's team or is deployed on duty with the team, he will be given strict instructions to not stay the night with the team and he will make his arrangements for stay at some distance from the women's team.”
He said that with this decision, the
Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
campaign of the government will also be made meaningful and the participation of women in the field of sports will increase. “Our effort is that the women should come forward in greater numbers in sports. Many more important decisions will be taken soon for the same”, added Sandeep.
While talking to TOI, Sandeep said, “This decision has been taken as a corrective measure to improve performance in the field of sports. I have been receiving suggestions from different places and after analysing everything, this decision has been taken to ensure that the parents of female sports players feel secure for their wards and the players and parents are more confident. This will boost their performance.”
When asked whether we have that much of women sports coaches to cover the entire state, Sandeep said, “In Haryana, we have the best women sports coaches and their number is also good. In case, we struggle to provide any woman coach, we are making arrangements that the stay facilities for men coaches are a little away from that of the women sports players. In that case, we can provide women managers to the teams.”
