Pramod Sawant told the state
assembly on Monday. He also said that the state government has also engaged a Bangalore-based agency, Dakshin Foundation, for preparing a
turtle nesting conservation plan, and the work is under process.
Replying to a question posed by the Congress MLA Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco, Sawant said that various measures have been put in place by the government for conservation and protection of Olive Ridley turtles arriving and nesting on Goan beaches. Regular patrolling of the nesting
beaches and monitoring and protection of the nesting pits are some of the measures Sawant mentioned.
