Punjab: Man murders brother to marry sister-in-law

LUDHIANA: Three days after Hathur police lodged a murder case against unidentified accused when they found a dead body of a farm worker in a field in Randhirgarh village, police on Sunday arrested the elder brother of the victim for murdering him. The accused was identified as 24-year-old Yadwinder Singh aka Tarsem Singh, of Bhammipura Kalan village.
Police officer said the accused revealed to police that he had committed the murder hoping to marry his sister-in-law. He added that on January 29, he took his brother to the field on his motorcycle and made him drunk. According to the police, after the victim lost conscious, Yadwinder hit him many times with a brick on the head, resulting in his death. They added that the accused then pushed the dead body of his deceased brother to hadda rori (carcass dumping yard) thinking that the stray dogs will eat the dead body.
SHO said the deceased was married around three years ago and has a four-month-old daughter.
