BENGALURU: Amid concerns of a shortfall in funds from the Centre, chief minister
BS Yediyurappa is scheduled to kickstart preparations for the state budget, to be presented on March 5, on Monday.
Yediyurappa will hold a review meeting with representatives of the department of higher education and thereafter with officials of IT-BT and medical education. All these departments are under deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan, who has sought an increase of Rs 3,000 crore in allocation for higher education.
The CM will also hold meetings with officials of other departments including agriculture, transport, horticulture and sericulture, housing, revenue and municipal administration on Monday.
Officials in the chief minister’s office said the CM will hold pre-budget meetings till the end of February. He is expected to meet representatives of industries and trade bodies on February 10.
In February 2019, former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy presented a budget with an outlay of Rs 2,34,153 crore. Yediyurappa continued with the budget after he took over in July. He is likely to enhance the outlay for the coming fiscal.
