Haryana: Six killed as speeding SUV rams into tree

KAITHAL/JIND: Six friends returning home from Haridwar, Uttarakhand, were killed in a road accident in Kaithal district on Saturday night. The accident took place on the Dhand-Pundri road near Mayoli drain around 10pm after the SUV they were travelling in rammed into a tree.
The deceased included Deepak (21) of Gangsheena in Karnal, Kapil (23) of Bithmara in Hisar, Sunil (27) of Hansavala in Fatehabad, and Ajay (23), Ramkesh (26) and Ankush (23), all from Surjewala in Hisar. Jind SP Virender Vij said it seemed the driver was speeding. "He lost control of the vehicle and it hit a tree. We recovered five bodies in the night and one in the morning around 100 feet away from the accident spot."
He said a probe had been initiated against an ambulance driver who crossed the spot without picking up the injured. "Some persons had informed the ambulance driver about the mishap. When he reached the spot, he went back assuming the injured had died," the SP said.
