Brine pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and string of other offences and told the District Court on Monday that nothing she could say would fix what she had done.

'Nothing I do will ever make up for this and I know sorry will never be enough,' she told the dead man's family.

'I don't expect you to forgive me but I ask can you please accept my apology from the bottom of my heart.'

In a victim impact statement provided to the court, Mr Brar's mother, Kulwinder Kaur said he was her 'only hope for the rest of my life'.

'Even though I was alone when Jatinder was studying in Australia I had hope he would return to India and he would care for me and be there for me,' her statement said.

'But when I heard the news of Jatinder's death my life and my reason to live ended.'

The dead man's brother, Beant Kaur, described Mr Brar as a 'superhero'.

'My brother always took a stand for me. Now life is full of darkness,' Mr Kaur said in his statement.

'My brother was my strength. Nobody can replace my brother in my life.'

It previously emerged that Brine, who wept in court on Monday, was near the end of a 10-year driving ban at the time of the fatal crash.

She received the ban after her irresponsible driving contributed to the death of her best friend in 2010.

Brine, then 16, drove a vehicle which Lauren-Kay Zadow-Mulvey, 18, and another woman, 30, 'car-surfed' near Eudunda, a rural town north-east of Adelaide.

The 18-year-old fell off and was killed, while the older woman was hit by a passing car and died as she tried to get help.

She told the court that she had struggled to come to terms with the fatal incident in 2010.

Brine will be sentenced over the most recent crash next month.
