KANPUR: As many as 9,845 children and 1,634 pregnant women will be immunized in the third leg of the Intensive
Mission Indradhanush programme which began on Monday. The programme will cover three blocks of the city and also those children who have been left from vaccination. The programme commenced by administering vitamin A drops to a child at the primary health centre at Kidwai Nagar.
District Immunization officer Dr AK Kanaujia said that around 23 children and 2 pregnant women were immunized at the Kidwai Nagar centre. There was a target to immunize 9,845 children and 1,634 pregnant women. In all, 1,643 sessions would be held to cover all children and women.
Dr GK Mishra, district TB Officer, directed the health employees to ensure 100 per cent vaccination and get vaccinated from various diseases all children up to the age of 2 years and pregnant women.
District health officer Dr Shailendra Mishra has appealed to all parents to get their children vaccinated. The Government of India has increased the coverage area of vaccination up to 90 per cent, he said. Dr Aparna Singh (WHO), Devkant Sharma (Unicef) and a representative of UNDP were present in the programme.
