PUNE: A 27-year-old helmetless scooterist died on Sunday morning coming under the wheels of a PMPML bus after he fell on the road following a collision with a scooter just after crossing the Bund Garden bridge.
The Yerawada police identified the deceased scooter rider as Akash Krishna Pillai of the Queens Garden area. A case of rash and negligent driving was filed against the PMPML bus driver after Pillai’s father, Krishna (45), lodged a complaint with the Yerawada police.

The bus driver did not stop at the accident spot and sped away. The police are trying to track down the PMPML bus and the two-wheeler rider involved in the accident.
Sub-inspector S R Karpe of the Yerawada police said, “Pillai was heading towards Yerawada from the Queens Garden area around 10.30pm. Just after crossing the bridge, a two-wheeler rider collided against Pillai’s scooter and the latter fell on the road.”
The driver of the PMPML bus trailing Pillai’s scooter failed to apply sudden brakes after the victim fell on the road, Karpe said. He came under the front wheel of the bus, he said.
Pillai was a painter and worked for a private contractor, he said.
