VARANASI: An Afghan national Abid Abdullah (25) and Sahbe Alam of Chamradih village of Phoolpur area in Azamgarh district were arrested by Bhelupur police and sent to jail on Sunday in the episode of their bid to procure Indian passport with fake Adhar and voter identity cards for Abid.
Producing the duo before reporters SP City Dinesh Kumar Singh said that they have been booked under section 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 of IPC and 14 foreigners act 1946 and sent to jail after producing before the court.
Abid was taken under custody by Bhelupur police on January 31 when he had visited passport office in Mahmoorganj area and employees of office alerted the cops after noticing his doubtful activities. During initial interrogation Abid divulged that through Facebook he had become friend of Alam and later reached India on January 11 and after staying in Delhi for few days he visited Azamgarh to meet Alam.
Singh said, the duo divulged that Abid wanted to go to Kuwait, where entry of Afghan nationals is banned, by procuring Indian passport. To arrange Indian passport he had been given an offer by Alam against the payment of Rs 20,000, he said adding, Alam had also stayed in Kuwait for many years after visiting there in 2013 on two-year working visa. However, he illegally stayed there till 2018 and during his stay in Kuwait Alam had came in contact with an Afghan national Ali, who asked him to return India and work for facilitating Afghan national interested in visiting Kuwait to get Indian passport.
After returning home Alam started same work assigned by Ali and arranged fake Indian passports to many Afghan nationals in past, said Singh adding, on January 31 Alam had visited passport office with Abid but when the latter was taken in police custody he had fled the scene.
Alam admitted that he had arranged the Adhar and voter ID card for Abid, said Singh adding police in Azamgarh initially recovered the passport-visa of Abid and also became aware Alam ensured issuance of voter ID card in the name Abid on the basis of personal details of Mohd Javed of Chamradih village. After the voter IF card was arranged with the photograph of Abid on it, said Singh adding, Alam completed formalities of Adhar card for Abid.
Apart from Abid’s Afghan passport, his fake voter ID and Adhar cards police also recovered three mobile phones, four sim-cards and other documents from the duo.
