LUCKNOW: Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma on Saturday announced that the state government would help in getting innovative and unique science projects patented in the name of students developing them.
Addressing students at the district level science project contest held at a school in Indira Nagar under the ‘Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research’ (Inspire) Award scheme, a flagship programme of central government’s department of science & technology, Sharma said the projects should work in real time, provide solution to problems faced by people and be better than existing technologies.
“The basic and secondary education department will seek legal opinion from experts to ensure that the innovative and unique models are patented,” said Sharma, who also holds the portfolio of secondary and higher education departments. He urged the teachers to encourage the students.
Students of classes 6 to 10 of all basic and secondary schools came up with various science projects to check stress, alarm to keep a tab on glucose in body, flower cleaning machine, smart cap for visually impaired and solar tracker, among others. A total of 32 models were selected by a panel of scientists for the nation-level contest.
