
WBJEE 2020 Paper 1 and 2 Analysis HIGHLIGHTS: The state Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE 2020) is being conducted on Sunday, February 2, 2020. Nearly one lakh candidates will appear for the engineering entrance examination that will be conducted in two sessions from 11 am to 4 pm.
The WBJEE is divided into two papers — Mathematics; Physics and Chemistry. The paper 1 of Mathematics will be conducted from 11 am to 1 pm and paper 2 for Physics and Chemistry will be held between 2 pm to 4 pm. In paper 1 for Mathematics, there will be a total of 75 questions of 100 marks.
In 2019, a total of 22,175 seats went vacant as compared to 16,000 last year. There are overall 32,700 seats on offer in various engineering colleges in West Bengal.
The results of the entrance examination is expected to declare earlier. Last year, the result was announced on June 17, 2019.
Highlights
Students who appeared for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE 2020) alleged some questions in the mathematics section had wrong options as the answers given in the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) did not match the question.
The answers provided for two questions in category 1 were incorrect, claimed some students. In set D, question number 31 of trigonometry and question number 43 of coordinate geometry were wrong, as per students and teachers.

The students rated the paper as moderate, with the question pattern following the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main).
Aishwarya Banerjee, a WBJEE aspirant, said the questions in Physics and Mathematics followed the standard of JEE Main, covering the whole syllabus. “I appeared for the JEE Main in January, and the questions in WBJEE were at par with that entrance examination. The questions in Physics especially followed the pattern of JEE Main, followed by Mathematics and Chemistry.”

Aishwarya Banerjee, a WBJEE aspirant said that the Mathematics paper was tougher than compared to last year. “The paper has lots of conceptual based questions, with section B a little bit tough and lengthy as the questions were application-based,” the student said.

WBJEE is an exam conducted for admission to various undergraduate courses in engineering and technology, pharmacy and architecture.
The paper 2 for Physics and Chemistry will be conducted between 2 to 4 pm. This year, the entrance examination is being conducted earlier on the directions of state governments to increase the number of students in state engineering colleges.
According to student Kunal Agarwal, "It was a lengthy Mathematics paper, with most questions were application based. The students found difficulties in attempting Section B."
According to students, the Mathematics paper was quite tough. Aishwarya Banerjee, a WBJEE aspirant said that the Mathematics paper was tougher compared tp last year. "The paper has lots of conceptual based qurestions, with section B a little bit tough and lengthy as the questions were application based," the student said.
The paper will contain 155 multiple choice questions of 200 marks. In paper 1 for Mathematics, there will be a total of 75 questions of 100 marks, while 40 questions each in Mathematics and Chemistry.
