Hyderabad: Two persons, including a havildar of central GST department, were nabbed and 31 liquor bottles were seized from their possession on Saturday.
Excise officials have arrested Ranga Sandeep Kumar, 29 from Kotwalguda, who has been working at a duty-free shop at RGI Airport, Shamshabad, and Kuthadi Mallesh, 55, from Secunderabad, a havildar with central GST department office, Basheerbagh.
On Saturday, excise department sleuths intercepted a two-wheeler near Taj Mahal Hotel at Abids and nabbed Sandeep with 12 bottles of
foreign liquor .
After interrogation, he revealed about his associate following which the officials raided the house of Mallesh and seized 15 more bottles of foreign liquor and four bottles of liquor bought from defence canteen from his possession.
According to officials, the duo had procured the foreign liquor from the duty-free shop at the airport and selling them to customers at a higher price.
In all, 31 liquor bottles, including 27 foreign ones, a Honda Activa and two mobile phones were seized from their possession. The excise team handed over the contraband and accused persons to the prohibition and excise inspector, Narayanguda excise station, for further action.
