RAJKOT: A tribal man was murdered in
Khakhara Bela village of Padadhari taluka in
Rajkot district on Thursday night. A complaint in this connection was lodged with Padadhari police station on Friday night.
Police said the victim’s brother-in-law and the latter’s brother strangled
Kailash Mavi (35) on the outskirts of Khakhara Bela village. The accused have been identified as Raju Mahida and
Kaju Mahida, sad cops.
According to the police, Mavi had left home for shopping in Padadhari on January 30 and later in the evening, returned home along with his sister
Atar, her husband Raju and his brother, Kaju. After having dinner, Mavi told his wife Savita that he along with Raju and Kaju was going to the farm to sleep.
“In the night, Raju and Kaju returned to Mavi’s house claiming they needed blankets, After they were given the blankets, both went away. The next morning on Friday, one Vanrajsinh Jadeja came asking for Mavi for some labour work. Savita went to the farm to look for Mavi and found him dead,” said J V Vadhiya, sub-inspector with Padadhari police station.
“We sent the body for postmortem and the report on Friday stated that Mavi had died of strangulation. As both Raju and Kaju had absconded, we booked them for the murder on the complaint of Savita,” added Vadhiya.
