NSI signs MoU to set up sugar institute in Nigeria

Kanpur: National Sugar Institute, Kanpur and National Sugar Development Council of Nigeria signed a Memorandum Of Understanding at Abuja, Nigeria in the presence of Indian High Commissioner, Abhai Thakur.
The MoU was signed by director NSI Kanpur, professor Narendra Mohan and Dr Latif Busari, executive secretary NSDC, Nigeria. As per the MoU, the NSI will prepare the Detailed Project Report for setting up a sugar institute in Nigeria and in the meantime National Sugar Institute, Kanpur shall conduct faculty development programme for technical personnel from Nigeria who ultimately will conduct training programmes there.
The first batch of training for 10 Nigerian personnel is proposed from April 1, 2020. Some of the technical personnel shall also be admitted to the regular courses in sugar technology, sugar engineering, instrumentation & automation and environment science disciplines of the institute during the academic session 2020-21, said Prof Mohan. The faculty of National Sugar Institute shall also visit the sugar institute in Nigeria to deliver expert lectures and to conduct short duration training programmes, he said.
