Goa: GFP to bring up Deepak Pauskar extortion case in assembly

Vijai Sardesai
PANAJI: GFP chief Vijai Sardesai on Saturday said that his party will bring up for discussion in the upcoming state assembly session the case of extortion from the PWD minister Deepak Pauskar.
He said that it is a matter of concern that a member of legislative assembly was threatened and some persons tried to extort money from him, yet the accused were barely kept one night in custody and released prematurely.
“It is a very serious issue. Every MLA can be a soft target. Mysteriously the people who were arrested were not kept in police custody. They were kept in judicial custody and within one night they were given bail. It is not even investigated by the police,” Sardesai said on Saturday.
He said that there are various types of speculations with regards to this case and everyone in the state has a right to know what the case was about.
