Luxury bus rams into 2 motorcycles; 2 dead, 4 injured

The bus was trying to overtake another bus at Anaval–Mahua Highway
Surat: Two motorcyclists died on the spot when a private luxury bus hit their bikes head on at Anaval–Mahua state highway in Surat district some 50 km off Surat city. In the accident that took place on Saturday morning, four more persons including a woman were seriously injured after the driver of the bus, trying to overtake another bus, collided with the bikes.
The dead were identified as Satyen Hasmukh Patel, 27, of Vehval village in Surat district and Kishor Gaman Patel, 25, of Gangadia village in Surat district. The injured include Hasmukh and Partima Patel parents of Satyen who were riding pillion with Satyen. The trio works as mason and were going for work. The other injured people are Lalji Chima Patel and Jignesh K Patel who were riding pillion with Kishor Patel. While three injured are being treated in a private hospital in Navsari, the fourth one had to be shifted to a hospital in Surat.
According to Mahua police, the driver and a conductor of Patel travels Bardoli was taking the empty bus to collect passengers on Saturday morning in the outskirts of Tarkani village near Anaval. Here, the driver tried to overtake another bus from the wrong side it collided head on with the two bikes coming in the opposite direction.
Local people who gathered on the spot shifted the victims to the hospital and an angry mob started to pelt stones on the luxury bus breaking its window panes and front glass. However, police reached the spot and controlled the situation.
“The driver and the conductor of the bus fled the spot after the accident. But we will nab them soon,” said the police and added, “The accident was apparently caused by speed and overtaking from the wrong side. We will bring the guilty to books.”
