Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) on Saturday reported a 3% year-on-year decline in its domestic sales in January to 50,785 units.

The company’s passenger vehicle sales fell 17% year-on-year to 19,797 units in January. Sales in the commercial segment grew 1% to 22,851 units. Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (MHCV) sales fell a sharp 45% at 471 units.

In the three-wheeler segment, M&M sold 8,137 units, 36% higher year-on-year.

“Our performance in January has been relatively muted as part of our strategy to start ramping down BSIV manufactured vehicles and move to BSVI emission norms. We have also started rolling out our first batch of BSVI vehicles with the XUV300, which has been very well received by our consumers," said Veejay Ram Nakra, chief of sales and marketing, automotive division, M&M Ltd.
