The strike by staff of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation is causing immense hardship to the public and the common man. There have been some incidents which point to a politicisation of the strike. At this juncture, senior leaders in both the ruling party and the Opposition should make earnest efforts to resolve the crisis. The government needs to shed its tough stand and invite the leaders of the various transport unions to the negotiating table. There should also be a plan to modernise the corporation (Editorial, “Get back to talks”, October 16).
