Haryana assembly polls: Ashok Tanwar backs Dushyant Chautala, then supports Abhay too

SIRSA/DELHI: Former state Congress president Ashok Tanwar on Wednesday extended his support to Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and its candidates in the presence of its chief Dushyant Chautala and his mother Naina Chautala in Delhi. Tanwar has been sulking after he was replaced by Kumari Selja as the Congress Haryana president, and finally quit the party recently.
"We have begun the surgical strike. Congress will now fight for third position in the state, said Tanwar. The former Congress leader said his association with JJP will not be restricted to only the Haryana assembly polls, but at the national level too. "In the interest of Haryana, I have decided to extend my support to JJP as I am dedicated to promoting youth leadership and clean politics which resonates with JJP's agenda," said Tanwar. Interestingly, in the evening INLD leader Abhay Chautala met Tanwar at his Sirsa residence and the former Congress leader announced support for Abhay in Ellenabad constituency. Abhay invited Tanwar for his October 19 rally at Chopta village in Ellenabad on the last day of the poll campaign. Tanwar did not respond to phone calls, but his wife Avantika Maken Tanwar confirmed that they would support Abhay in Ellenabad. TNN
