A 30-year-old man, allegedly in an inebriated condition, met his end on Wednesday when he got stuck between the platform and a train at Nampally railway station.
Mahesh, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was trying to board the running Godavari Express on Platform No. 5 when the incident took place around 5.15 p.m., Nampally Government Railway Police (GRP) said.
“We suspect that he was under the influence of alcohol. He lost his balance while trying to catch the moving train and fell between the train and the platform,” the officer said, adding that they did not find any ticket in the victim’s belongings.
His body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital morgue for preservation. “We are trying to get in touch with his family back home,” investigators said.
