MUMBAI: A teenager from a tribal family in Dahanu in Palghar district, Hemant Zate (19), allegedly hanged himself on Monday night after being told not to play PUBG and instead concentrate on studies.
Zate, who had passed his class 12 exam, had been a student of an agriculture college. His father worked for a flour mill and the mill owner, Chirag Mehta, had taken up the responsibility of educating the teenager. Hemant had, however, quit studies.
In his police complaint, Mehta said that Hemant was "addicted" to PUBG and used to stay up till late night to play the game. Mehta said that he had asked Hemant to stop playing the game and get back to studies. On Monday, he went to bed early after complaining of uneasiness. Hours later he was found hanging. No suicide note has been found, the police said.
