PUNE: A 38-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after a woman (18) travelling in a PMPML bus plying on the Market Yard-Pimple Gurav route accused him of outraging her modesty.
The woman from Pimple Gurav lodged an FIR with the Shivajinagar police. The arrested man, a resident of Mangalwar Peth, has been booked under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code.
The police said the woman was travelling in the Pimple Gurav-bound bus on Tuesday evening. The suspect was sitting behind her. During the journey, he touched her inappropriately. The woman immediately raised an alarm. "The suspect was intercepted by other passengers and handed over to the police," said a police officer.
One booked for stalking
The Kothrud police on Tuesday booked a Kalewadi resident for stalking and molesting his neighbour at the bus stand outside the depot on Paud Road. When the suspect's wife tried to stop him, the latter abused and beat her up, too.
The police said the incident occurred in the afternoon when the woman was waiting for a bus.
