₹2.32 crore for razing 4 buildings

Two Maradu apartments, Alfa Serene and Jain Coral Cove, were handed over to firms on Wednesday for demolition. One tower of Alfa Serene was given to Vijay Steels, and Jain Coral Cove to Edifice Engineering for demolition.

The demolition of Jain Coral Cove apartment would be the most expensive among the four apartments as Edifice Engineering would charge ₹86 lakh for the job.

While it would require ₹64 lakh for razing H2O Holy Faith, ₹61 lakh would be needed for Alfa Serene and ₹21 lakh for Golden Kayaloram. The financial implications of the job would be presented at the municipal council of Maradu on Thursday.

The Balakrishnan Nair committee, which has been constituted to oversee the disbursement of compensation for the apartment owners, will complete it’s job in five months, the State government has indicated.

The government fixed the term of the committee in an order issued on Wednesday. The order also listed out the number of allotted staff and other facilities to the panel. The expenses for the functioning of the committee would be recovered from the builders, the order said.
