Bypoll results do not affect govt but send political message: Yogi

CM Yogi Adityanath during a public meeting at Ghosi in Mau on Wednesday
Ghosi (Mau): On a whirlwind campaign tour of several districts, Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said here on Wednesday that “although results of byelections do not affect the ruling party or government, they do send a political message.”
“Oopchunao se sarkar ya sattadhari party ka kuchh banta-bigdata nahi hai. Lekin ek sandesh jata hai (bypolls do not affect the functioning of the government or ruling party, but do yield a political message,” Yogi said while addressing an election meeting at Bapu Inter College ground in Kopanganj area here on Wednesday.
Although BJP had lost three parliamentary bypolls in 2018, party leaders have expressed the confidence of winning all the 11 Assembly seats, including Ghosi, in the bypolls to be held on October 21.
Yogi cut short his speech due to delay in arrival. He left for Varanasi by road as due to sunset, his chopper did not take off.
In his less than 10 minute speech, Yogi also targetted Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress for “appeasement politics” and blamed them for “patronising those who are compromising national security”.
Stating that BJP has fielded Vijay Rajbhar, an ordinary vegetable seller, from the constituency, Yogi said the party has showed faith in Vijay as he is a dedicated party worker. “It is possible only in BJP that ordinary workers can become Prime Minister, party president, MPs and MLAs. Contrary to this, Congress, SP and BSP patronised anarchy and corruption and gave opportunity to the enemies to dent the country.”
Keeping caste equations in Ghosi in view, Yogi said, “The sitting MLA of Ghosi assembly area Phagu Chauhan was made governor of Bihar while other MLA Dara Singh Chauhan holds the portfolio of cabinet minister.”
To woo the Rajbhars, he said his government renamed the medical college of Bahraich after Maharaja Suheldeo where admissions will be done in the coming academic session.
He assured that if the people will ensure Vijay’s victory, the latter will carry forward the development projects started by Phagu Chauhan.
Without taking any name in this citadel of jailed mafia don-turned-MLA from Mau Mukhtar Ansari, Yogi said, ‘Today, there is rule of law in the state. Those who used to brandish pistols and rifles publicly are either in jail or begging for their life. No criminal is allowed to create terror in the state.”

Yogi was to reach Ghosi at 3.35 pm after addressing public meetings at Barabanki, Bahraich and Ambedkar Nagar. However, his chopper landed at the election meeting venue at 5.10 pm. Without any delay, BJP state president Swatantrata Dev Singh invited Yogi to speak. Yogi concluded his speech in less than 10 minutes.
“After the pilot apprised the CM of technical problem in landing at Varanasi, he left for Varanasi by road,” said UP minister Anil Rajbhar.
