Hubballi: As many as 60 passengers on a
Hubballi bound
flight are said to have spent some anxious moments before it landed here on Tuesday night.
Indigo flight number 6E 7998 took off from Goa at 6.55pm and was scheduled to land in Hubballi at 7.50pm on Tuesday.
However, some passengers alleged that they experienced turbulence during the flight for over an hour and the flight was delayed.
Airport sources confirmed that the flight was delated by 15 minutes.
A passenger told TOI that the flight had arrived over Hubballi’s skies by 7.o5pm but it had lost connectivity with the Hubballi Airport. “It kept flying for about half an hour. There were heated arguments between passengers and the flight crew as they were hiding something from us,” he said. Another passenger said they experienced hard turbulence during the journey.
According to sources, the 78 seater aircraft, with 60 passengers on board along with crew took-off from the Goa at the scheduled time. “However, it had to deviate from its original route due to bad weather. After seeking clearance from the Airport Terminal Services (ATS), it arrived at Hubballi after a 15 minute delay” they added.
Airport officials said the episode was unnecessarily being blown out of proportion. “It is common for a small aircraft to experience such high turbulence while passing through thick clouds,” they said. “The flight was delayed by just 15 minutes. There was no break-down of communication between the flight and the ground station as being reported in a section of the media” said Indigo Hubballi airport manager Boppana K P.
‘There was no delay’
There was no
delay at all. The said flight landed on its scheduled time. Whatever the news that has been is spread, is fake.
