MARGAO: Chairman and managing director of Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd Sanjay Gupta said that Margao, Karmali and Tivim stations in Goa will be upgraded under the tourism development project for which Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned.
“Margao, Karmali and Tivim stations will undergo a facelift,” he said while speaking at the 29th foundation day celebration of the Corporation on Tuesday.

While a capital expenditure of Rs 85.3 crore was spent during the last five years on passenger amenities, various passenger amenities works of Rs 11.8 crore were completed under the MPLAD scheme on the Konkan Railway route in Goa, it was informed. In June 2019, the “flagship trains” of Konkan Railway - Konkankanya and Mandovi Express - were converted into LHB coaches which was major step towards improved passengers amenities, Gupta said. He also said that the electrification of the entire Konkan Railway route was in progress and will be completed by the year March 2021 with the estimated cost of Rs 1,100 crore.
He further said that the doubling of the 46-km stretch between Roha–Veer section was in progress and would be completed by March 2020. The work of construction of 10 new stations - Indapur, Goregoan Road, Sape Wamane, Kalbani, Kadwai, Verawali, Kharepatan, Achirne, Mirjan, Innanje - and 8 loop lines was also in progress, Gupta said, and that they will be completed by March 2020.
