Bennett University (BU) recently hosted the third edition of Bennethon, the annual
marathon, which focussed on the theme, Run for Child Rights. Over 400 participants, including students, faculty and staff members, participated in the 6km marathon. Students were spotted clicking selfies at the Official Bennethon photo booth. The event was flagged off by Revati Jain and
Vineet Jain, MD, Times Group, and Chancellor, Bennett University.
The chief guest for the felicitation ceremony was Arjuna awardee and retired amateur freestyle wrestler Anuj Kumar Chaudhary, who emphasised on the importance of fitness in one’s daily life. Bennett’s faculty members, including Milind Shrikant Padalkar, Dean of Student Affairs,
Pratima Singh, Sports Officer, and Vineet Mehra, Junior Sports Officer, were among other guests.
The winners were announced under the following categories – students (girls and boys) and faculty (male and female). Under the students category, Avishka Sharma, Shruti Jha and Gazal Gupta, and Vihaan Tyagi, Roshan Sharma and Joseph Antony, secured the top three positions, respectively. The winners were awarded medals by Milind Shrikant Padalkar and Vineet Mehra. The ceremony saw a classical performance by Japna S Batra, a third-year BBA student.
The most exciting bit was the felicitation ceremonies of the faculty members, as the students were seen cheering on. While Rohtesh from pantry staff secured the first position, under the male category,
Pradeep Kumar, a part of the security team, and Anshuman Jaswal, Professor at School of Management, bagged second and third positions, respectively.
While Geeta Bisht from the admin staff stood first, under the female category, Pooja Kumari from the pantry staff, and Neeti Nirmal, Professor of Biotechnology, stood second and third, respectively.
One of the highlights was the crafts stall, set up by Hope Foundation. Apem, the Programme Coordinator at the foundation emphasised on the importance of child rights. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Chandu Appasani, a fourth-year BTech student and member of the Sports Department.
