AHMEDABAD: The city unit of BJP was left red-faced on Tuesday after a local leader posted several porn videos in one of the WhatsApp groups of the party.
Gautam Patel, secretary of the Naroda unit of the BJP, posted over 70 pornographic videos in the WhatsApp group “Naroda 12 (Modi Fir Se)”, leaving the party embarrassed as the group had women councillors and party workers as members.
Several office-bearers of the BJP quit the group after the videos were posted by Patel. BJP workers are said to have reported the matter to city BJP president Jagdish Panchal and also to I K Jadeja, who is in charge of Ahmedabad district organisation of the party.
About 20 women members of the group, including municipal councillors, exited the group soon after the videos were posted by Patel, party sources said.
Panchal said that a show-cause notice will be issued to Patel, and subsequent action will be taken on the basis of his reply. Panchal said that Patel has contended that the number from which the videos were uploaded is not his regular number. “Patel has claimed that his phone got misplaced and some unidentified person has forwarded the videos in the group with the intention to malign his image,” Panchal said.
