
APJ Abdul Kalam Quotes, Thoughts: Former president of India, Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam has been an inspiration to not just India, but the world. Also known as one of the greatest scientists of the 21st century, his contribution to the ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) is remarkable. Kalam earned a degree in aeronautical engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, and joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in 1958. He soon moved to the ISRO, where he was the project director of the SLV-III which was India’s first indigenously designed and produced satellite launch vehicle. Rejoining DRDO in 1982, he planned the program that produced a number of successful missiles, which led to him being known as the “Missile Man.”
He left his imprints not just on science but also on fields that interested him like philosophy, literature and language. Not only that, he was also a connoisseur of music. He was a prolific writer and wrote 18 books including Wings of Fire: An Autobiography, Luminous Sparks – A Biography in Verse and Colours, India 2020: A Vision for the New Millennium; 22 poems, and 4 songs during his lifetime.
