JAIPUR:
Aerial survey in
Walled City areas using drones was launched on Monday by urban development and housing minister Shanti Dhariwal. After the Walled City earned the UNESCO world heritage tag, state’s urban department started an exercise towards conservation of the city.
However, the minute minister switched on the drone, it failed to lift-off. It took technical staff another ten minutes to start off the drones again while onlookers looking amused. Finally, when the drone flew in the air, everyone applauded. The survey is being conducted to prepare details of the heritage structures and havelis. Dhariwal said. “When the city was included in the heritage city list by UNESCO, there were some conditions under which we have to conserve heritage buildings. The survey will be completed by October 20.
Under this we will have 2D and 3D mapping of every building. We will load the façade of the buildings and will check how many changes have been made in the façade.”
He said with the help of 360-degree mapping, the exhaustive details of the ownership and history of the property will be documented.
Dhariwal also announced that a map would be created about the illegal encroachment. “Residents have to construct outer portion of the buildings - doors, windows and balconies — in architectural style of Jaipur.
After the building is identified, people also have to remove the encroachment within 60 days of notice. The draft of the by-laws for the walled city is almost finalised. It would be implemented once the final shape is given,” said Dhariwal.
