AHMEDABAD: An Italian architect interning with an internationally feted architecture firm in the city got to know the ugly face of Ahmedabad, claimed as one of the safest cities for women in India.
The woman was horrified as she was groped by a biker while walking to her workplace in posh Bodakdev area around 9am on Monday morning.
“The woman filed a plaint alleging that the biker rode towards her from the front and sped away after groping her,” said a police official. The incident happened in a lane behind Sagar Flats towards Drive-In Road.
Vastrapur police registered the case around 10 hours after the incident.
Cops are reportedly yet to get any clue about the pervert who molested the foreigner.
Police said that the incident left the woman scared and shocked.
It was only later that she shared her ordeal with her Indian friends at the workplace.
Not willing to let her tormentor go scot-free, the Italian intern along with her friends approached Vastrapur police where a case of molestation was registered against an unidentified bike-borne man.
DCP, Zone-1, P L Mal, confirmed with TOI that the woman belongs to Italy and has come to the city for her internship with an award-winning architect.
“The woman is new to this place and got very scared after the incident. She could offer no information about the man’s physical appearance as she only saw his back as he sped away after molesting her,” Mal told TOI.
