Honey trap case: Two arrested under charges of extortion in Ambala

AMBALA: The Ambala police on Monday arrested a woman and a man after registering a case against them under charges of extortion as they have been demanding money from a resident of Yamunanagar after threatening him of implicating into false rape case since past some time.
Sukhwinder Singh of Kalyanpur Atari village in Yamunanagar district alleged that Sudha Devi of Ambala Cantonment and her accomplice Vikas of Jind district have been demanding money from him while threatening to implicate him in false rape case.
The Ambala police said that both the accused Sudha and Vikas used to target people in honey trap and once the woman made physical relation with the targeted person, they used to pressurise the victim by implicating in false rape case and demanded extortion.
Sukhwinder stated to the police, "Nearly three years ago, I came in contact with Sudha Devi of Ambala Cantonment who told that she is a poor woman and does not have a home. Then I helped her with some money and we started talking to each other and developed a good relationship. After some time, she started blackmailing me and threatening of implicating into false rape and abetment of suicide cases. She threatened me along with her accomplice Vikas, whom she presented as an army personnel and her husband. Vikas started calling and threatening me using various modes of communication and demanded Rs 10 lakh. On February 11, 2019, I lodged a complaint with Sadhaura police station and on the other side, Sudha lodged a complaint against me at Ambala Cantonment police station."
"She demanded Rs 8 lakh and threatened of implicating me into rape case and we reached a compromise at Rs 3.5 lakh in Ambala. I handed over the cash to her on April 2, 2019 in front of my village’s former sarpanch Gulisher Khan. Now they have again started demanding Rs 3.5 lakh while saying that I have not paid them money and threatening of implicating me into cases", further alleged Sukhwinder.
On this complaint, a case against accused Sudha and Vikas under Section 384 (punishment for extortion) and 389 (putting person in fear of accusation of offence, in order to commit extortion) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at Ambala Cantonment police station on Monday.
“We have arrested both the accused and on Tuesday, they have been presented before the court, which sent them on one-day police remand. Both the accused used to blackmail and target people and both are fraudsters. Further investigation is being done”, said inspector Narender Singh, SHO, Ambala Cantonment police station.
