GURUGRAM: After a brief spell of rain last week, three more cases of
dengue have been reported in
Gurugram, taking the total number of cases in the district to nine.
Health department officials said they have intensified their campaign against the vector-borne disease since dengue cases are likely to go up now.
The samples of a patient each from DLF 1, DLF 3 and South City were found positive for dengue. “A total of three samples were submitted by Artemis, Fortis and Paras hospitals, which were confirmed positive for dengue. Our teams are checking
mosquito breeding in coolers and overhead water tanks. We are also advising people to not let water accumulate in their surroundings,” said Dr S S Saroha, district malaria officer, Gurugram.
Earlier, dengue cases were reported in DLF 3 and sectors 51, 55 and 56. “A majority of dengue cases are being reported from DLF 1 and 3. These areas have many vacant plots, which become breeding grounds to mosquitoes. It is difficult to check breeding in such places,” a health department official said.
Officials, however, said there has been a dip in dengue cases as compared to last year. According to the health department, 93 cases were confirmed last year.
As a part of its campaign against dengue, the health department of MCG has been organising dengue awareness rallies in the district.
