TRS to take plunge into Maharashtra poll, may announce after Pitru Paksha

TRS is seriously exploring an option to contest in some of the districts including Nanded, Latur, Aurangabad and Solapur to enter into the state.

KC Rao

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) led by the Telangana Chief Minister KC Rao may take plunge into the Maharashtra Assembly Election. Riding on Rao's sterling performance in the Telangana assembly election, TRS is seriously exploring an option to contest in some of the districts including Nanded, Latur, Aurangabad and Solapur to enter into the state.

So far Rao has held marathon meetings with some politicians from Nanded district and told them to be ready for the election. In case of other districts, he may take a call after holding similar meetings with the local leaders. Rao is expected to make formal announcement on fielding the TRS nominees after the ongoing Pitru Paksha is completed, Babhali gram panchayat sarpanch Baburao Kadam, who had held key posts of the Shiv Sena in Nanded district, told DNA.

"A group of local leaders led by me had two and half hours of meeting with Rao who has evinced interest to contest in five assembly constituencies in Nanded district. The constituencies under his radar include Deglur, Hatgaon, Bhokar, Kinwat and Naigaon.'' He informed that there has been strong resentment among the people of these segments against the successive Maharashtra governments for neglect towards providing basic amenities and they feel that Rao may give them justice.'

Slow And Steady Steps

  •  Observers say TRS entry into Nanded and other districts along the border may compel the ruling BJP and Shiv Sena in particular and opposition parties to revise their poll strategies giving more focus on expediting the development process.
  •  So far Rao has held marathon meetings with some politicians from Nanded district and told them to be ready for the election. In case of other districts, he may take a call after holding similar meetings with the local leaders. TRS move is crucial when BJP led government has promised the implementation of water grid for Marathwada.
  •  Interestingly, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen have been working hard to increase their presence in Nanded

"TRS government has launched a number of pro development and welfare schemes including the Rythu Bandhu scheme which offers a financial help of Rs 10,000 per year to each farmer (two crops). There is no cap on the number of acres, and most of the farmers are small and marginal. Further, Telangana government has made substantial financial allocation to increase irrigation potential while in Nanded district the government could not come forward to save the Malgujari tanks,'' he said. He further added that lot of people were contemplating migrating to Telangana state due to lack of development here.

Marathwada Janata Vikas Parishad general secretary Sharad Adwant said people will support TRS if the party wants to seriously pursue its development agenda in the state.

Interestingly, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen have been working hard to increase their presence in Nanded and couple of other districts to provide an alternative to BJP-Sena combine and Congress-NCP alliance. TRS move is crucial when BJP led government has promised the implementation of water grid for Marathwada.
