Sensex up by 216 pts

Mumbai, Maintaining positive streak for the third straight session on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex shot up by 216 points to 39,306.37 following gains in FMCG, Health Care and IT stocks amid positive trend in

Asian market.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 55 points to 11,655.05.

The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 39,306.37 and 38,989.37 points respectively.

The Nifty recorded day intra-day high and low at 11,655.05 and 11,559.35 points respectively.

The sectoral indices like Energy, FMCG, Health Care and IT advanced while material, industrial, auto and bankex slipped in opening trade.

The gainers were Reliance Industries by 4.40 pc to Rs 1293.15, VEDL by 2.41 pc to Rs 161.75, Tech Mahindra by 2.40 pc to Rs 698.55 and Infosys by 2.35 pc to Rs 783.05.

The losers were Asian Paints by 2.29 pc to Rs 1763, L&T by 2.23 pc to Rs 1493.55, HDFC Bank by 1.93 pc to s 1234.20 and Hero MotoCorp by 1.88 pc to Rs 2771.
