Rajenthra Bhalaji reportedly made provocative comments

Virudhunagar District Congress Committee has lodged a complaint with the district police against Minister for Dairy Development K.T. Rajenthra Bhalaji for “instigating” AIADMK partymen to “shoot down” Virudhunagar MP B. Manickam Tagore.

A petition seeking action against the Minister and protection to the MP was handed over by party East District president Sriraja Chokkar to Superintendent of Police M. Rajarajan on Monday.

In his complaint, Mr. Sriraja charged that the Minister called Mr. Tagore names. The Minister, he alleged, went to the extent of asking his partymen to “shoot him down with rubber pellets” whenever he visited the district. Besides being derogatory in nature, his address was instigating ruling party cadre to indulge in violence against the Congress leaders.

The Minister reportedly made the remarks at a public meeting organised by the AIADMK at Sattur to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai on September 21.

The Minister had not respected national integration and sovereignty by instigating partymen to commit a murder, the petition said.

Mr. Sriraja handed over a compact disc containing the footage of the Minister’s controversial address at Sattur.

Legal option

Meanwhile, Mr. Tagore told presspersons that if the district police failed to register first information report against the Minister, the party would seek legal intervention in the issue. “We refer the issue to Parliament’s Privilege committee as it a threat issued against an MP,” Mr. Tagore said.

Stating that he has received complaints alleging large-scale irregularity in implementation of Jal Sakthi Abiyan in Virudhunagar district, the MP alleged that the Minister was responsible for it.
